Larvae Control
Targeting mosquitoes at the larva stage of development, larvicides include microbial insecticides, chemical larvicides and monomolecular films. Treating breeding habitats helps reduce adult populations in nearby areas. ADAPCO offers the following larvicides:
- AGNIQUE® MMF: a transparent surface film that is applied to breeding habitats using any conventional spray method every 10 to 28 days. New in 2007, a granular AGNIQUE® MMF.
- Summit BTi Briquets: a sustained release floating BTi briquet formulation that offers activity against mosquitoes for up to 30 days.
- Altosid Briquets: a larvicide formulated with the insect growth regulator methoprene, which specifically targets mosquitoes.
Adult Control
There are two types of adult control: a barrier control that targets adult mosquitoes where they rest, and cold ULV fogging that targets flying mosquitoes during peak activity. The following are recommended insecticides for residential use:
Barrier Control Insecticides
- Suspend SC: a deltamethrin-based concentrate that is diluted with water and applied to foliage, structures or other areas where mosquitoes commonly rest. This product offers exceptional control for 2 to 6 weeks depending on the application rate, habitat, and environmental conditions.
- Permanone 10% EC: a permethrin formulation that can be diluted in mineral oil or water; offers seven to10 days of residual control when applied to the foliage of problem areas.
- Wisdom: a bifenthrin based concentrate that is diluted with water and applied to foliage, structures or other areas where mosquitoes commonly rest. This product offers control for 2 to 6 weeks depending on the application rate, habitat, and environmental conditions.
Cold Fog Insecticides
- Aqua Reslin: its unique patented FFAST formulation allows permethrin to be diluted with water and perform like an oil-based spray.
- Permanone 4-8 : a ready-to-use formulation contains 4% permethrin and 8% piperonyl butoxide with a mineral oil carrier.
